"All of the coachesat CFK encouraged me to keep coming even when I was on my knee scooter and couldn't put any weight on my leg."
I had been runing and doing classes at the YMCA but it was just getting monotonous and I got bored. I pretty much lost all motivation to workout. I was intimidated of CrossFit though. You see what people are doing at the CrossFit Games, they can do all these crazy things and I didn’t think I could do that. That isn’t what 90% of people who do CrossFit are doing though. When you walk into any CrossFit box you see normal people.
When I walked in and saw all the smiley faces I felt very welcomed. It was good that you go in slowly, and are built up over time. Since I’ve been here I have gotten much stronger. I was really only running before and now I have more strength to do everyday things. I’m also mentally stronger and have more confidence. A lot of my goals in life have to do with fitness. I have set different goals to complete different races and CrossFit has helped me do that.
Earlier this year I was running ultras, my longest race was 62 miles with the goal of running 100, but then in October I had surgery. I got very depressed and sad after the surgery and felt like my whole life was going to change. All of the coachesat CFK encouraged me to keep coming even when I was on my knee scooter and couldn’t put any weight on my leg. I basically had to modify everything. Because of the awesome coaches helping me modify everything I need to I’ve still been able to make progress and seen changes and improvements. The coaches have also made it so I don’t feel like a burden on the class because I needed extra help and was doing something different. Anyone can come in and get a good workout.
